Heated Outboard Covers

If you need to keep your motor warm we can make a custom heated cover to fit it. Our heated outboard covers are used in the harshest of environments by military and commercial customers, testimonials and reports from them confirm the ability of these covers to maintain ‘operational readiness’ in some of the most extreme environments on the planet.

We offer a 2 layer cover for temperatures down to 14F and a 3 layer (with thermal insulation) for as low as -25F. They can also be made as an all over ‘Full’ cover or a top section ‘Mooring’ cover (leaves the bottom 1/3 of the leg exposed).

The gallery below has some examples of our heated covers. Please use the contact form below to send us your details, we will then provide a custom quote.

2024 Price example, 150hp motor – Full (all over) heated storage cover:-

2 Layer, suitable for +32 to +14F               $925

3 Layer, (inc thermal layer) +14 to -22F     $1,184

We have designed a heating system that we can fit into one of our Full outboard covers. These were originally developed for military use in the Arctic (-60 degrees!) but we have a version for less aggressive climate protection.

Our heated covers are made to order and to your specific requirements. The heating system is regulated to maintain a designated temperature and have thermal cut outs to protect from over heating.

We used a silicone heat pad that can be built to run on most voltages. We would not recommend using over 110V or 240V for safety reasons. If operating in extreme cold (less than -15 degrees) we can also supply Arctic rated cable and plugs.

Heated covers are supplied without any electrical connections (plugs). Plugs and transformers will have to be sourced locally and in accordance with safety regulations.

We love the heated covers! They assure operational readiness and peace of mind when the temps drop. Super durable, easy to use, perfect fit, and looking great!

@newyorkmediaboat

I am happy to tell you all of the covers performed exceptionally well throughout the episodes of subfreezing temperatures. The wind chill factor dropped the temperature to -20c. All interior ambient engine air temperatures were measured from 2-3c. Well done sir.

I am going to recommend immediate accession of the covers for permanent inventory. I will be requesting additional covers in the July-August time frame. I look forward to working with you again James. Thank you for enabling this success.
Huzzah!!

Extreme Angler – Texas Fishing Forum

I want to share some photos of the Outboard Covers of America “Splash Cover” I got for my 200 Mercury ProXS a few weeks back. I wanted to have it on the motor for a while before posting a review. I’m not one to show off my material things. But, I had a hard time finding photos of this brand on bass boats so hopefully this will help someone down the road when they are shopping for a motor cover.

These things are expensive, more expensive than some of the more well-known brands like Tuff Skinz. However, I can also tell you that the OCA cover fits tighter, looks better, and is not likely to leave any rub marks like the Tuff Skinz will (my motor already has some rub rash from the previous owner who had a Tuff Skinz on it).

The cover itself is very snug, to the point that it is difficult to install by yourself, and the elastic band at the bottom of the cover hugs the bottom of the motor cowling in a way that it does not ride-up over time. An added benefit to this grip point is that it does not cover up the trim button on the side of the engine. There is a small Velcro strap at the front of the cover that is little more than a comfort thing; It fits so snugly that I don’t think it is even necessary.

I paid extra for the Mercury decals because I think the boat looks better with them. That’s just me; I paid a lot of money for this boat and I’m not going to put something on it that I don’t like looking at. Unfortunately, these decals are not readily available so message me for details if that’s something you would want. I am not a representative or affiliated with OCA in any way, but I can get you in touch with someone who is if you want those decals.

In summary, the OCA is a very high quality product. It is expensive, but I do believe it is a better product than its less expensive competition. And, I did get blown into a gnarly tree while landing a fish about a week after I got it that would have certainly chewed up the side of my bare cowling; I just dusted off the wood chips from the cover and it looks like nothing ever happened.

Pro XZAbout price

As of Jan 2016 OCA have invested in automated fabric cutting machines (CNC) and have purchased x2 large format printers so we have reduced our pricing to be very competative (if not beat any competitors price).

Why not Vinyl?

People also ask what is wrong with using vinyl or a padded vinyl won’t that stop the noise more and offer more protection?

Yes it MAY but as it is not breathable it will cause moisture to build up under both the cowl and cover. This will corrode the motor and damage the paint and decals.

Most people are not aware that a replacement cowl is extremely expensive and if new decals are required these are usually extra and can cost as much as one of our Splash covers.

This is typically what would happen if you made your outboard cover out of a material that does not have breathability such as vinyl or even neoprene which is used on wet suits. They do not have what Polysoft® has!

Latest Testimonial

A brief note on my experience with Geoff and Leanne Felgate’s company, Outboard Covers & Accessories (a.k.a. Outboard Covers Australia) as per www.outboardcovers.com.au.

I whole heartedly recommend Outboard Covers Australia. Although their website does the job, I still prefer to order via phone and I am glad to say Geoff has answered the phone every time I have called. What more do you want? I have sold the Quintrex and now own a Sirocco RIB with a Honda F20; neat, fast and fun and now with a new cover for my new engine.
